Day 7 over Sherman Pass and into Colville

Last night was a toughie, the cattle associated with the Fair woke me up at 3 am bellowerin’ like it was the end of the world, keeping me up the rest of the night. I think I was the lucky one I feel everyone else was slept even less. The wake up call went out at 5:15 and we all started busting camp. Just before 7 our luggage shuttle arrived to cart gear. I went on and carried my gear and left right at 7, stopping just long enough for 2 chocolate milks, 2 snickers and some almonds.
The climb of Sherman Pass took around 2:45 of saddle time I averaged 5.2 mph it was a nice steady climb with a one memorable steep section. Before heading down the descent I put the camera in my helmet and shot some video. It was a dull descent 6% meant only 35mph but a pretty stream in the right made for a pleasant distraction. The Columbia River was a beautiful sight and crossing the bridge made a nice video. I made it to kettle falls before noon and bought some PB and honey. In town, other than the one stoplight, is a nice public water park and skate park. I ate lunch watching the kids play in the water park and honey drips collect on my cycling shorts. Then went back to the Health Food Store where everyone else’s stuff was stowed and hung out. Before long Tulsa Bill then the rest of the gang showed up and ate across the street at a restaurant. We headed out to Colville along busy 20 and found the fairgrounds immediately set up tents and took showers, blah blah blah.
Bob the campground host gave us great ideas on where to eat and an alternative route for tomorrow. The original route is riddled with construction sites so we are heading up to over a newly paved road past a ski resort. We’ll see how it plays out.
Since I was riding by myself most of the day these pics are just scenery. One is looking back from near the top of the pass another is from the fire that happened in 1988 and one of my rig at the top.
