Who would have thought you could spend hours and hours repacking. Culling items, trying to figure out meaningful relationships between items like: It would be nice to have some Purell in the same pocket as the toilet paper. Then rejoicing at simple successes such as the realization that my tent poles will fit under the top tube of my frame so now my tent doesn't hang a foot off the rear rack. Then getting chuckles out of simple things like the fact that my spork matches the color of orange flavored metamucil, hehehe. One of my great fears on this ride is the dehydration and constipation combo. I'm trusting copious hydration and stealth metamucil delivery via spork to keep that concern at bay.
I'm close to being satisfied with my packing. Still seems like I'm taking a lot of clothes and many redundant items, the brooks running shoes are gonna be a likely eyesore/pain since they'll be strapped on top of the rear panniers.
Now I need to reseat my rear tire since the guys a Fanatik didn't check it yesterday, then I'll take back the chinczy fenders they sold me that rattle all the time.
