Pete, Marisha and Kevin in Monroeville
Another great day for biking. Since it is Sunday we took highway 24 out all the way from Wabash thru Huntington to Mardenis. Very little traffic and a nice tailwind had us tooling along at 15.5mph average
Marisha rode the first section to Huntington while Pete sagged. After taking pictures around downtown Huntington, the hometown of Dan Quayle, we decided to cruise all the way to our endpoint, Monroeville, to eat lunch. About five miles outside of Monroeville my odometer made the 3000 mile mark. We ate lunch at a bar then we found the municipal park to stay the night. It’s a great place to camp. There is a pavilion to park you bike under, a shower and a washer/dryer. Another cyclist named Michael is here he started riding in February leaving his home near New Orleans and has gone 7000 miles. After we got settled in at the park, Marisha and Pete left headed back towards Oklahoma . We all enjoyed having them join us these past four days and miss them already. For dinner we went back to the same bar, the Pour House. Three of us had the 5 piece cod fish dinner. It was too much for even us hungry cyclists to eat. We boxed up the leftovers and took a full meal back to Michael. He shared more stories of his ride and I asked him questions about his thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.
We talked to Diane last night. A friend of hers named John is driving her back to NJ. She is bruised, sore and nauseous but improving everyday.
Uh-oh, there it is the Appalachian Trail, another adventure in the making!
