Another beautiful day for a bike ride. We crossed the state line then watched 2 crop dusters fly about for 15 minutes. While eating lunch in Defiance we called the Mill House B&B in Grand Rapids and made reservations. The old downtown of Grand Rapids is filled with neat stores and restaurants. An old mill was converted to an award winning B&B back in the 90’s. It’s owned by Cathy and Ron . Cathy met us on the front porch and showed us our room and were to stash our bikes. After getting cleaned up and settled we headed to LaRoe’s. We sat out on the back deck and enjoyed a stunning view of the river. Well kept flowers and a neat riverside park full of visitors kept our senses busy while we enjoyed an excellent meal. Our waitress, Michelle, helped identify the Gerber Daisies that were scattered throughout the flower beds. After dinner we went down to the river to watch fishermen ply their trade and the sunset‘s glory. That night we all slept like babes in the Mill House.
In the morning we ate breakfast on the back patio. Cathy and Ron served us coffee cake and breakfast casserole (like the casserole my family serves on Christmas morning). We skarfed it down and left happy full and rested and all in agreement that the Mill House has been our favorite overnight location of the trip. Bill says he plans to bring his bride back to Grand Rapids and the Mill House (voted Ohio’s most romantic B&B) and visit for a few days.
