Day 68: Wolcott to Polaski, NY 56 miles

Pictures: We survived the dive
Venus the only remaining statue that still holds her lamp
Pool hall dinner of old
Pool table and all the fixtures still there
Meadow of flowers
Hot, hilly, demanding. We ate breakfast in this great old store that had a display case and a billiard table that had been photographed in the very store way back in the in the 1920’s. Then we played on playground equipment like overgrown children on a sugar rush. We made Bill happy by making a shop-stop at Wal-mart.
Later we made a wrong turn and ended up eating lunch in Mexico. What an excellent wrong turn at Gerco’s we ate delicious huge sandwiches of which I could only eat half. While we were eating a woman approached and told us of her bicycle ride across America. Just before she left she mentioned that her husband had died yesterday afternoon. I cannot imagine, how, incredible that she had gone out of her way to speak with us at such a time…literally on her way from making funeral arrangements.
